Two Artists, Two Petras, And a Bovine

We were an odd bunch. Bypassers were slowing down and doing double-takes at the scene that included an actor, a musician, a student, a photographer/engineer, and a cow. The original intent was to go hiking -- we had all the right gear and even few granola bars. But as often in life, things outside of my control intercepted and I ended up in a new place with some people I did not know a day ealier.

Peter came to my house to pick up his flute, which he forgot at the shoot the day earlier. His friends Petra and Martin were with him and ready to go for a hike. They had a large piece of a home made apple strudel, so I joined. The scene was rustic, the mountains were high, and we were too lazy to hike. We stopped at the first restaurant at the base of the hiking trail, and later it only made sense to take an after-lunch siesta next to a grazing cow on the nearby meadow.

I was fascinated by the cow and how it was eating the grass. We sat there for a good one hour and the cow would not stop eating. I wonder how much more it ate until it felt satisfied.

We were real country folks for one day. We did not use our phones, we did not Tweet, we did not Facebook, we did not Buzz. We just sat there, like in the old days before The Internets.

We even found a Tyrolean jacuzzi which Petra and Martin promptly tested out!

We had enough props to stage a Tyrolean villagers photo. This photo got almost ruined -- I almost forgot to remove my Ray-Bans.

I can't say I would want to sit on a grass next to a fresh cow poop every day, but it was a fun thing to experience and a great memory to cherish. What great memories did you recently create?

I shot Jesus

Yesterday was my first overseas photography gig. I headed to Central Europe and shot Jesus. A day after Good Friday, he was up and very much alive.

Ok. I'm lying. I did not shoot The Jesus but Peter Adamov is as close as it gets. Don't you think? As a non-believer myself, beeing around this Jesus, I could easily imagine the charisma of the real Jesus and how quickly one could start believing. Past the Jesus age of 33, Peter has been a successful musician for over a decade. He focuses on jazz, swing, bossa nova, and classical as well as folk music.

The goal of this photoshoot was to get few good shots for the cover of his new album and for posters. Which of these photos do you think would look best on Peter's album cover?

Peter brought along few of his favorite pieces.... an electric guitar and a flute.

Which of these photos do you think would look best on Peter's new album cover?

Peter was not into shooting in an urban area or by a graffiti wall which I originally planned. But once he showed up wearing what he was wearing, it completely made sense. He is a nature freak and pretty much a complete opposite of me. I knew I had to go out of my comfort zone and scout a location away from the civilization. I picked a nearby park and took Peter and his entourage (yes, he had one) along. The good thing about having an entourage is that someone might snap few shots of yourself behind the camera. Thank you Eva K! And so without further ado, I am presenting you the sneak peak into the behind the scenes of this photoshoot. If you pay enough attention, you might be even able to pair up some of the finished photos to their "behind the scenes" counterpart. How many pairs did you find?

Happy Easter everyone! Jesus has risen and he looks better than ever!

Lens envy

There are very few things (that do not contain a lot of refined sugar) that I love. One of them is my husband, another one is Fluffy, and then there is the glass. A good glass is like a mistress. You loose yourself and spend all your money on it. But unlike the mistress, once you have it, it stays with you. You love it, and it loves you back. You carry it like your most valued jewel, and brag about it in front of your lens-envious friends. Yes, the term "lens envy" is real and you will feel it about two days after you buy your first SLR. Here, look at this lens and tell me what you feel.

Welcome to our garden

Bradfordik and I ventured to Flora Grubb gardens this weekend and bublibished our patio. Among other things, we bought a baby citrus tree (back left) and three kinds of mint plants. Can't wait to sip on a mint tea on a warm October night in San Francisco.

I have two husbands!

I got a new husband! I am very excited, though I will miss the gnarly guy. I have caught myself checking him out all day long. Especially when he is walking away from me. :)
